Preparation and aftercare
How to prepare for your appointment and care for your lashes and brows afterwards.
Before your lash appointment
Arrive with clean lashes — avoid mascara, eyeliner and eye makeup. Bonus tip — avoid waterproof mascara for 48 hours before your appointment, as it is much harder to remove completely.
Skip the lash curler — please avoid using an eyelash curler beforehand, we want your natural lashes in their natural state to achieve the best possible application and styling.
Foreign infills — if you have existing extensions from another technician, please notify me when making your appointment so we can book a removal before your full set.
Avoid caffeine — for at least 4 hours before your appointment, as this can cause your eyes to flutter more than usual, making application more difficult and potentially extending your appointment time.
Before your brow appointment
Skip actives around your brows — avoid AHAs, BHAs, retinol, tretinoin, exfoliants or other active skincare on or around the brow area for at least 5–7 days before your appointment. Please advise me before booking if you are currently taking, or have taken, Accutane within the last 6 months, as brow waxing and lamination can cause skin lifting and irritation.
Let your brows grow — avoid tweezing, waxing or trimming your brows for 2–4 weeks before your appointment to help with the final shape, symmetry and overall result.
Avoid fake tan — avoid self-tan on your face for 3–5 days before your appointment, as fake tan can affect the results of your brow dye and may lead to uneven colour.
Avoid makeup — this allows us to achieve the best possible results and ensures your treatment isn't affected by product residue.
Please note
If you are pregnant, undergoing chemotherapy, using acne medication or have any underlying skin conditions, some treatments may not be suitable for you. Please contact me before booking so we can determine the safest treatment option for you.
Lash aftercare
Keep lashes dry for 24 hours — this allows the adhesive to fully cure for the best possible retention.
Cleanse your lashes daily — use a lash-safe cleanser to gently wash your lashes every day, then dry them using a fan on a cool setting while gently brushing them into place.
Brush your lashes daily (AM and PM) — to keep them fluffy, detangled and free from dirt, oil and debris.
Avoid touching your lashes — picking, pulling, rubbing your eyes or sleeping directly on your face can damage your extensions and reduce retention.
Skip the eyelash curlers — these can damage your extensions, causing them to snap off and putting unnecessary stress on your natural lashes.
Avoid oil-based products — keep oil-based makeup, cleansers and skincare away from the eye area, as oils break down the adhesive and reduce lash retention.
Book your refills — every 2–3 weeks to maintain fluffy, full lashes.
Brow aftercare
Avoid getting your brows wet — wait 24–48 hours after your treatment to allow the products to fully set and achieve the best possible results.
Minimise exposure to heat and steam — for the first 24–48 hours, as this can affect the treatment results, cause dye to fade faster and increase irritation after waxing.
Avoid oil-based products — keep oil-based skincare away from your brows, as oils cause brow dye to fade more quickly and reduce the longevity of your lamination.
Avoid touching your brows — refrain from rubbing or excessively touching your brows after your appointment, as this can cause irritation and affect your results.
Brush brows daily — use a clean spoolie to gently brush your brows into place each day to keep them neat, fluffy and perfectly styled.
Book your maintenance appointments — schedule your brow lamination every 6–8 weeks, depending on your natural brow growth cycle and desired look.
